Notes about the author
He was born on June 12, 1913 in Medicina. In 1930 he moved to Bologna where he attended the goldsmith's workshop of Andrea Stefani and then the Institute of Artistic Industries. In 1933 he participated, for the first time, in a pictorial exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence.
The life and art of Aldo Borgonzoni are distinguished by the coherent political, civil and social commitment to freedom and to any abuse that could harm the dignity of man, in particular of the humblest and weakest. Anti-fascist, in contact with Orlando Argentesi and Giovanni Bottonelli joined the liberation struggle. During the period of the Resistance he contributed to the salvation of Virgilio Guidi. He took the card of the Italian Communist Party, and then walked away from it over time.
In September 1986 his hometown, Medicina, dedicated a rich anthological exhibition to him with some of the artist's most significant paintings and including the hundred works on paper in mixed media, which Borgonzoni had donated to the community of origin. This first donation, in 1991 will be followed by a second of a further 56 works, including paintings and sculptures, which also include creations by other great artists: Mario Schifano, Renzo Grazzini, Domenico Rambelli.
